Program Overview
CRETI is a 14-week intensive program designed to equip students with the skills, connections, and preparation necessary to compete for the most selective roles in real estate. The program operates on a semester-based cohort model, requiring a significant time commitment of 5–8 hours per week. It is not merely a club, but a rigorous training ground where students build the foundation to excel in internships and full-time roles.
CURRICULUM & INSTRUCTION
Our curriculum moves from fundamental concepts to complex technical applications, ensuring a holistic view of the industry. Weekly three-hour sessions combine upperclassman instruction, in-person guest speakers, and hands-on group work.
Key modules include:
Asset Fundamentals: Deep dives into asset classes, the life cycle of assets, and capital flows.
Technical Skills: Instruction in Excel modeling, PowerPoint presentation, lease structures, debt sizing, and valuation methodologies.
Advanced Concepts: Joint ventures, waterfall structures, development processes, and AI applications in real estate.
MENTORSHIP STRUCTURE
We utilize a multi-layered mentorship approach to ensure student success. Each participant is assigned a dedicated upperclassman mentor for immediate guidance and accountability. Additionally, students are matched with an industry mentor based on their specific interests, skills, and geographic preferences. This structure is designed to facilitate long-term professional relationships and candid industry advice.
ALUMNI STEWARDSHIP
Admission to CRETI is viewed as a long-term investment in the UNC Real Estate community. We operate under a model of stewardship where graduates of the program are expected to return as Team Leads and mentors to guide future cohorts. This ensures that the culture of excellence and high standards is maintained in perpetuity.
